Montreal sees record tourism growth from festivals and business

Montreal has experienced a record-breaking tourism season driven by major music festivals, business conferences, and sporting events. The International Jazz Festival and the Osheaga music festival both saw significant success, contributing to a surge in visitors.

According to Tourisme Montréal, travel from the United States increased by seven per cent and travel from Canada rose by five per cent compared to the previous year. International traveler numbers grew by nearly five per cent, while hotel occupancy reached 82 per cent, marking a seven per cent increase from 2025.

Local businesses, particularly in Old Montreal, report high activity. The influx of visitors has been attributed to the city's unique atmosphere and the broader interest in visiting Canada, even as global crises persist.
