Monty Desai expected to become Gujarat head coach

Monty Desai is expected to be appointed as the new head coach for the Gujarat senior men's cricket team. Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) Secretary Anil Patel indicated that Desai is in the pipeline, with an official announcement expected within a week following the conclusion of current trial and practice matches.

If confirmed, the 52-year-old Desai will succeed Ramesh Powar, who has held the position since June 2023. Desai returns to the Indian domestic circuit following a recent stint as the head coach for Canada. His extensive coaching background includes roles with the West Indies men's team, Nepal, and various IPL franchises such as the Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Lions.
