Monty Don announces death of beloved dog Patti

Broadcaster and horticulturist Monty Don has announced the sudden death of his Yorkshire Terrier, Patti, following a short illness. The 71-year-old 'Gardeners’ World' presenter shared the news on social media, stating that the dog “lit up our lives” and that his family is “heartbroken.”

Patti frequently appeared alongside other dogs, such as Ned the Golden Retriever, in episodes of 'Gardeners’ World'. The loss follows a series of recent canine deaths for Don, including his dachshund Peggy in January and his Golden Retriever Nellie in October 2023.

Fellow presenters and colleagues, including Matt Baker and Rachel de Thame, have offered condolences. Don has previously spoken about the therapeutic role his dogs have played in helping him manage mental health challenges, such as depression and anxiety.
