Monty Don to step down from BBC's Gardeners' World
Monty Don has announced he will step down as the presenter of BBC's Gardeners' World at the conclusion of the current series. Don, who is 71, has been a fixture on the programme for 23 years, hosting approximately seven hundred episodes.
During his tenure, Don transitioned from filming at Berryfields to broadcasting from his own garden, Longmeadow, in Herefordshire, which he has used for the show for the last 16 years. In a statement, Don noted that while he has cherished the connection with his audience, he believes now is the right time for a change.
BBC Chief Content Officer Kate Phillips expressed respect for the decision, describing Don as a unique and engaging broadcaster. Don indicated he intends to continue working with the BBC on other projects and plans to focus on writing books and further gardening pursuits.
