Monument to Ricardo Iorio unveiled in Buenos Aires province

A monumental sculpture dedicated to the late Argentine heavy metal musician Ricardo Iorio was presented on October 24 in the hills of Coronel Suárez, Buenos Aires province. The artwork, created by sculptor Rodolfo “Roppo” Marsch and his son Ian, currently stands nearly six meters tall.

The project is expected to reach a total height of approximately eleven meters once a spear structure is completed to serve as a mast for an Argentine flag. The location near the El Campamento rural area was chosen for its connection to the musician, who spent his final years living in the countryside and engaging with local traditions.

Originally, the project was intended by Iorio to honor the historical figure Cacique Pichihuinca. Following the musician's death, the sculptor adapted the initiative to include Iorio's image. An official inauguration is planned for November 20, National Sovereignty Day, accompanied by a rock music event in Coronel Suárez to help fund the monument's completion.
