Monumental Atahualpa Stadium opens in Peru at high altitude
The Monumental Atahualpa stadium in Huaraucaca has officially opened, serving as a new venue for Peru's Liga 3 football tournament. Located at an altitude of approximately 4,195 meters above sea level, it is now the second highest stadium in the country, surpassed only by the Daniel Alcides Carrión stadium in Cerro de Pasco.
The stadium features Qualy Pro synthetic grass and hosted its inaugural match during the second round of the Liga 3 Final Phase, where Ecosem Pasco defeated Nacional de Mollendo 1-0. The venue is expected to serve as a significant home field for Ecosem Pasco as the team competes for promotion to the Second Division.
