Monza awarded third place in Lombardy regional environmental contest

The Voluntary Ecological Guards of Monza have been awarded third place in a regional photography contest organized by the Lombardy Region. The competition was part of the 2026 Clean Green Day celebrations, specifically within the category for municipalities with more than 15,000 inhabitants.

In this category, Milan and Garbagnate Milanese shared first place, while Carate Brianza took second. The award recognizes the photographic documentation of environmental activities held in Monza, which included educational workshops on recycling and biodiversity, panoramic tours, and guided visits to the Carabinieri cavalry barracks at the Monza Park and Villa Reale Gardens.

Over 150 municipalities in Lombardy participated in the Clean Green Day initiative, with approximately 30 participating in the photography contest. Regional Councilor for Environment and Climate, Giorgio Maione, noted that the entries demonstrate how local territories drive the ecological transition. As part of the prize, the top-ranked municipalities will have the opportunity to present their environmental initiatives at Palazzo Lombardia.
