Monza camperists appeal to mayor to remove parking height barrier

The Associazione Nazionale Coordinamento Camperisti (ANCC) has formally requested that Monza Mayor Paolo Pilotto and the municipal administration remove a height-limiting barrier installed at a new public parking lot. The parking area, located near via Manara and scheduled to open on September 30, 2026, was constructed as part of Iperal subdivision works.

The ANCC argues that the barrier lacks technical justification, asserting that height restrictions should only be implemented when physical obstacles like low bridges, tunnels, or ceilings exist. The association maintains that such barriers should not be used as general parking deterrents. They further claim that the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and various regional administrative courts have previously ruled that municipalities cannot use generalized bans or barriers to restrict high-profile vehicles like campers.

Additionally, the association raised safety concerns, stating that unjustified low barriers could obstruct emergency services, civil protection vehicles, and maintenance crews.
