Monza completes 13 million euro public lighting upgrade
The city of Monza has completed a comprehensive renewal of its public lighting network, involving an investment exceeding 13 million euros. Over a three-year period, all 12,688 lighting points across streets, squares, and parks were replaced with LED technology.
The project included the installation of 644 new poles, which are designed to support future smart city services, and the replacement of 224 electrical panels. The scope of work expanded significantly during implementation, with electrical joints increasing from an initial 2,400 to over 6,000, and the length of renewed or newly laid lines rising from 32 to 80 kilometers.
Managed under a 19-year concession with Acinque, the upgrade aims to improve efficiency and reliability. The new system is estimated to reduce CO2 emissions by 1,500 tons annually and has already contributed to halving the frequency of network malfunctions.
