Monza politician rejects Le Monde report on far-right and racism

Alessandro Corbetta, the Lega group leader in the Lombardy Regional Council, has issued a sharp rebuttal to a report published by the French newspaper Le Monde regarding the presence of the far-right in Monza.

Corbetta criticized the report for its portrayal of the city, specifically contesting the link between demands for increased security and racism. He addressed an incident involving a firecracker placed in the mouth of a statue at Ponte dei Leoni, arguing that citizens have a right to express concerns about safety without being labeled as racist.

Furthermore, Corbetta rejected the French model of immigration and integration, citing social tensions, urban guerrilla warfare, and radicalization in French banlieues as examples of failed policies. He also defended the Curva Davide Pieri football supporters, describing them as a source of local pride due to their charitable work, and dismissed the report as an ideological and offensive representation of Monza.
