Monza prison hosts rap concert for inmate rehabilitation project

A musical project aimed at prisoner rehabilitation concluded with a major concert at the Monza prison in Sanquirico. The event, titled ‘La Musica è Libertà’, featured prominent Italian rap and hip-hop artists including Fedez, Emis Killa, Neima Ezza, and Massimo Pericolo.

Beyond the professional performances, the event served as a finale for a musical laboratory that involved inmates in the creative process. Some detainees performed on stage alongside the artists, interpreting songs they had composed and produced within the prison facility.

Project organizer and educational consultant Paolo Piffer described music as a therapeutic tool capable of helping inmates process complex emotions and channel anger constructively. The initiative was supported by prison director Cosima Buccoliero, with the hope that such structured cultural programs could be expanded to other correctional facilities across Italy.
