Monza defeats Sassuolo 2-1 to secure first Serie A win

AC Monza secured their first Serie A victory of the season with a 2-1 win against Sassuolo at the U-Power Stadium. Gustavo Varela was the standout performer for Monza, scoring both goals. His first came in the 51st minute following a mistake by Sassuolo goalkeeper Muric, and he doubled the lead from a penalty in the 63rd minute.

Sassuolo attempted a comeback in the closing stages, with Vasilije Adžić scoring a skillful free kick in the 88th minute to bring the score to 2-1. However, Monza held on through the final minutes, aided by a strong performance from goalkeeper Noel Törnqvist in his debut.

The result provides much-needed momentum for Monza manager Ivan Juric, while Sassuolo, led by Alberto Aquilani, remains in a competitive position following their recent victory over Juventus.
