Mooca celebrates 470 years with photography exhibition

To celebrate the 470th anniversary of the Mooca district, the Museum of Immigration is hosting the exhibition ‘Sou da Mooca’. Created by photographers Malu Mesquita and Renato Negrão in collaboration with the gallery ‘O Jardim’, the project features 26 portraits and testimonials from local residents.

The exhibition, which debuts on August 22, utilizes an outdoor studio setup to capture images that explore themes of belonging, territory, and identity. Following its opening at the museum's main garden, the collection will be transferred to the gallery. Additionally, a mobile photography workshop titled ‘Portrait, Territory and Belonging’ is scheduled for August 26 to teach participants how to use smartphones for artistic and documentary expression within the neighborhood.
