Moody's upgrades Armenia rating outlook and projects modest 2026 growth for Azerbaijan

Moody's Investors Service raised its long‑term rating outlook for Armenia from "stable" to "positive" citing reduced risk of large‑scale military actions between Armenia and Azerbaijan, broader foreign partnerships and limited internal political risks. While noting remaining uncertainties over Armenia’s foreign policy and its relations with Russia, the agency affirmed Armenia’s Ba3 sovereign rating.

In a separate review, Moody's reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s Ba3 long‑term sovereign rating and forecast the economy will grow by about 1.5% in 2026 after a flat performance in early 2026. The outlook highlighted the stabilising effect of the peace‑building process, a strong state creditor position supported by the State Oil Fund, and modest diversification away from oil and gas, while acknowledging ongoing geopolitical risks.

Both assessments underscore how progress in the Azerbaijan‑Armenia peace agenda is influencing sovereign credit perceptions in the South‑Caucasus region.
