Moog develops slip ring transmitters for mobile machinery electrification
Moog has developed compact slip ring transmitters designed to support the electrification of mobile machinery. These systems address the challenges of transferring high voltages, currents, and sensor signals between stationary and rotating components in machines such as excavators, cranes, and material handling equipment.
The transmitters can handle voltages up to 1,000 V AC/DC and currents up to 2,000 A, with even higher capacities available for the mining sector. Designed for harsh environments, the components feature protection classes up to IP67/IP69K and operate in temperatures ranging from −40 °C to +80 °C, providing resistance against corrosion, humidity, and vibration.
In addition to power transmission, the systems support data integration via CAN-Bus communication and Ethernet connections with data rates up to 2.5 GBit/s. They can also be equipped with CAN-Safety encoders for secure rotation angle detection, integrating drive control, sensor technology, and condition monitoring into a single rotating interface.
