Mookuthi Amman 2 film receives mixed reviews

The devotional fantasy film Mookuthi Amman 2, directed by Sundar C, has received varied critical responses. The narrative follows a familiar good-versus-evil template but introduces a twist where the goddess herself must fight against a 2,000-year-old evil force.

One review criticizes the film for a lack of originality, noting that grand sequences appear to be shot-by-shot recreations of films such as Avengers: Infinity War and 300. This critic described the production as a debasement of the amman genre, citing redundant camera work and unsuccessful experimentation.

Another review offered a more positive perspective, describing it as a VFX-heavy entertainer. The plot follows a police constable, played by Nayanthara, who experiences nightmares and eventually travels to Mailanji to intervene in supernatural events. The film features a cast including Regina Cassandra, Urvashi, and Duniya Vijay.
