Moon enters New Moon phase in September 2026

The Moon is currently in its New Moon phase during mid-September 2026. On September 15, the satellite showed approximately 16% visibility, marking the beginning of a new lunar cycle. By September 17, visibility increased to 33% as the Moon remained in the New Moon phase.

According to data from the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), the Moon will officially transition into the Waxing Moon phase on September 18 at 17:44. During the New Moon phase, the Moon is positioned between the Earth and the Sun, causing the illuminated side to face away from Earth, making it difficult to observe from the planet's surface.
