Moon enters Waxing Gibbous phase ahead of August 28 Full Moon

The Moon is currently in its Waxing Gibbous phase, approaching a Full Moon scheduled for August 28. According to NASA, the Moon's appearance changes over a roughly 29.5-day cycle based on its position relative to the Sun and Earth.

During this phase, high visibility allows for the observation of various lunar features. Without visual aids, observers can see the Mares Vaporum, Tranquillitatis, and Fecunditatis. Using binoculars can reveal the Clavius Crater, Mare Frigoris, and Mare Nectaris, while telescopes may allow for the sighting of the Apollo 11, 14, and 17 landing sites.
