Moon enters Waxing Gibbous phase on October 19, 2026

On October 19, 2026, the Moon is in the Waxing Gibbous phase, meaning more than 50% of its surface is illuminated as it approaches a Full Moon, which is expected around October 25 or 26.

During this phase, the Moon rises in the east during the mid- to late-afternoon and remains visible through most of the night. In the Northern Hemisphere, the right side of the Moon appears illuminated, while the left side is lit in the Southern Hemisphere. Depending on the specific data source, illumination levels are estimated between 56% and 60%.

Observers using binoculars may be able to see the Endymion Crater, the Alphonsus Crater, and the Appenine Mountains. Those using telescopes may observe the Apollo 15 and 16 landing sites and the Rima Hyginus.
