MoonLake Immunotherapeutics drug meets trial goals for psoriatic arthritis

MoonLake Immunotherapeutics announced that its experimental drug, sonelokimab, met all primary goals in a late-stage clinical trial for adults with psoriatic arthritis who had not previously used biologic medicines.

In the study, 42.1% of patients receiving a 60 mg dose achieved significant symptom improvement by week 16. Additionally, 66.5% of participants saw at least a 20% improvement in symptoms, while 41.2% reached minimal disease activity. Regarding skin-related symptoms, 61% of patients experienced major improvement in psoriasis.

The company reported improvements in physical function and quality of life, with no new safety concerns identified during a blinded review. The ongoing study will continue for 52 weeks, with full results anticipated in the first half of 2027. Sonelokimab is also being evaluated for the treatment of hidradenitis suppurativa.

MoonLake reported ending the second quarter with $537 million in cash and short-term investments, which is expected to fund operations through mid-2028. The company also maintains access to up to $400 million via a debt facility with Hercules Capital.
