Final Fantasy Resonance slated for October release, showcasing HD‑2D art and camera innovations

Square Enix announced Final Fantasy Resonance, an HD‑2D remake of the mobile title Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. The development team highlighted challenges in blending 2D and 3D graphics, noting that even slight camera adjustments could break the visual style and required pixel‑by‑pixel tweaking. Balancing 26 “Visions” from across the series was also described as a major focus, with deep team‑building and turn‑based combat systems retained and modernized.

The game is scheduled for launch on October 22 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. It made its first appearance on Famitsu’s most‑wanted games chart, entering at #24 and gaining visibility among Japanese gamers alongside titles such as Zelda and Grand Theft Auto VI.
