Moonlight Resources starts drilling at Queensland's Peak Downs copper prospect
Moonlight Resources (ASX:ML8) has begun its maiden reverse‑circulation drilling program at the Peak Downs copper prospect, located about 10 km southwest of Clermont in central Queensland. The 3,000‑metre RC program focuses on the Central Zone to validate historic high‑grade copper intercepts and assess continuity for a potential JORC‑compliant resource. Historical mining between 1862 and 1877 produced roughly 100,000 t of oxidised carbonate ore averaging about 17 % copper over a 2.5 km strike length. Managing Director Greg Starr said the work will provide a technical foundation for future drilling, including possible diamond drilling, and determine whether the field can support a future copper resource within Moonlight’s Queensland portfolio. The campaign follows a detailed review of historic data and recent drilling success at Moonlight’s Clermont gold project.
