MoonPay launches AI crypto agents on Telegram for in‑chat transactions

MoonPay has deployed AI‑powered crypto agents onto the Telegram messaging platform, turning chats into a functional financial operating system. The agents, introduced on 24 February 2026, function as a non‑custodial software layer that can create and manage crypto wallets, execute on‑chain trades and handle fiat on‑ramps and off‑ramps without any manual clicks.

The Telegram integration expands on MoonPay Deposits, previously added to Telegram’s self‑custodial TON wallet, and offers more than 100 million Telegram users the ability to fund wallets, swap tokens and trade directly from conversations. The platform includes 54 crypto‑specific tools across 17 skill categories. Earlier in 2026, MoonPay announced an open‑source wallet standard for AI agents, a Ledger hardware‑security integration and a virtual MoonAgents Card that lets AI agents hold stablecoins and spend them via a Mastercard‑debit network.

CEO Ivan Soto‑Wright describes the effort as linking AI cognition with economic action, creating a new demand vector for stablecoins. Analysts note regulatory uncertainty around autonomous AI agents conducting financial transactions and the strategic risk of relying on Telegram’s ecosystem.
