MoonPay launches PayBox AI payment vault for ChatGPT and Claude
MoonPay introduced PayBox on 29 July 2026, a non‑custodial payment vault that lets users of the AI assistants ChatGPT and Claude initiate crypto transactions through natural‑language prompts. The system prepares actions such as token swaps, cross‑chain bridges, DeFi interactions or online purchases, but the user must approve each transaction with a passkey or set predefined spending limits for autonomous operation.
Security is built on multi‑party computation and trusted execution environments so that no single party – including MoonPay or the AI model – can hold a complete private key. PayBox also encrypts card details using Visa’s agent‑commerce protocol. The vault supports Solana and a range of EVM‑compatible networks (Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Hyperliquid, Tempo, Robinhood Chain) and accepts payment methods including debit cards, Apple Pay, PayPal and bank transfers. It integrates the open x402 agent‑payment standard, allowing developers to embed the functionality in other AI applications.
