MoonPay to acquire North Capital in $60M+ securities deal
MoonPay, a crypto payments infrastructure firm, has agreed to acquire North Capital Investment Technology in an all-stock deal valued at more than $60 million. The acquisition is intended to expand MoonPay’s capabilities into the tokenization of real-world assets (RWAs) and private markets.
Through this merger, MoonPay will gain access to North Capital’s regulated securities infrastructure, which includes SEC-registered broker-dealer, transfer agent, and investment advisory services. North Capital also operates the PPEX alternative trading system (ATS), which has supported over $8.7 billion in transaction volume and lists more than 1,250 approved assets for secondary trading.
MoonPay CEO Ivan Soto-Wright stated that the move aims to build a regulatory foundation for the mass adoption of tokenized assets, bridging the gap between private markets and on-chain rails. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions, after which North Capital will become a wholly owned subsidiary of MoonPay.
