Moonshot AI hits $50 billion valuation, eyes 2027 Hong Kong IPO

Moonshot AI, a Beijing-based artificial intelligence startup, has completed its final private funding round, reaching a valuation of approximately $50 billion. The company, founded by Yang Zhilin, is preparing for an initial public offering (IPO) in Hong Kong, tentatively scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. The company aims to raise between $3 billion and $5 billion through the offering, with Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, and China International Capital Corp acting as underwriters.

Moonshot's growth is driven by its Kimi K3 large language model, an open-weight model with 2.8 trillion parameters. The company's annual recurring revenue (ARR) is projected to reach $2 billion by December, up from $1 billion currently. Moonshot has also reportedly entered preliminary discussions with major US cloud providers, including Microsoft, Amazon, and Google, regarding potential revenue-sharing arrangements.

However, the company faces potential headwinds from increased regulatory scrutiny. Chinese authorities have reportedly launched data security investigations involving both Moonshot AI and DeepSeek, which may impact the company's valuation and the timing of its planned listing.
