The release has intensified a worldwide discussion on open‑weight AI. More than a thousand AI researchers and executives, including signatories from Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta and Anthropic, signed a joint letter urging U.S. policymakers not to impose premature restrictions on open‑weight models. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei reiterated that Anthropic has never advocated banning such models.
