Moorways Sports Village chemical leak forces Derbyshire waterpark evacuation

Around 13:38 on Thursday, emergency services responded to a suspected chemical leak at Moorways Sports Village and Water Park in Allenton, Derbyshire. The incident prompted the evacuation of the leisure centre and the closure of Osmaston Park Road. Twelve individuals were treated by paramedics for breathing difficulties. Firefighters from Ascot Drive, Kingsway and Nottinghamshire’s Stapleford stations, supported by a specialist Environmental Protection Unit, worked alongside Derbyshire Constabulary and the East Midlands Ambulance Service. The centre was closed for the remainder of the day and all swimming lessons and water‑park bookings were cancelled while authorities assess the cause of the leak.
