Moped driver flees after collision during police pursuit in Okazaki

A moped driver is at large after a collision in Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture, on the afternoon of August 31. The incident began when a patrol car spotted a moped with its license plate intentionally obscured and initiated a pursuit.

During the chase, the moped collided with a passenger vehicle at an intersection in Mukiyama-cho. While four occupants in the car were uninjured, the driver of the moped abandoned the vehicle at the scene and fled on foot. Local police are currently investigating the circumstances of the pursuit and the subsequent escape.

In a separate incident in Fukuchiyama, Kyoto, a 16-year-old unlicensed driver suffered minor injuries after a mini-bike crashed during a 1.6-kilometer police pursuit involving a traffic violation.
