Mopoilevat Nuoret organizes protest to improve police-moped relations

The youth organization Mopoilevat Nuoret ry is organizing a moped procession and protest on Saturday, August 15, to address escalating tensions between moped enthusiasts and the police. The event will begin at the Tattarisuo traffic training area at 15:00, moving to Kansalaistori at 16:00, where the demonstration will culminate before ending at 17:00.

Participants are seeking a collaborative solution to prevent confrontations and disturbances caused by unauthorized moped meets. The organization proposes implementing a cooperation model similar to those used in Turku and Oulu, where meets are planned jointly with authorities. They argue that establishing clear rules and legalizing meets in the capital region would reduce conflict and improve safety.

The protest follows an incident where a police vehicle reportedly collided with a moped rider during a meet, resulting in serious injury. The organization emphasizes a solution-oriented tone, inviting adults who support the cause to attend.
