Morano Calabro to host first SkirollCup Montagna Calabria trophy

The SkirollCup Montagna Calabria, a five-stage federal circuit supported by the Calabria Region, is set to begin on Sunday, September 27, in Morano Calabro. The event, organized by the FISI Calabro Lucano Committee in collaboration with the Montenero, Rotonda, and Sirino Ski Teams, marks the first trophy of the new season.

The competition will feature a mass start with free technique, open to all age categories. Race distances are adjusted by age: 1 km for U10, 2 km for U12, 4 km for the Children category, and 6 km for all other classes. The race is scheduled to start at 10:30 in the Carbonara district, with local traffic restrictions in place from 09:30 until 12:00.

Following the debut in the Pollino area, the circuit will continue through various locations in Calabria, including Camigliatello Silano, Gambarie d’Aspromonte, Cotronei (Villaggio Baffa), and San Giovanni in Fiore (Monte Gimmella). Skiroll, also known as roller skiing, originated in Scandinavia as a way for athletes to train during snowless months and is now a recognized discipline within the Italian Winter Sports Federation.
