Moravian-Silesian cities recognize active senior citizens

The city of Krnov recently honored several active seniors during a concert celebrating International Day of Older Persons. The awardees, nominated by the public, were recognized for their contributions to various sectors, including work with the visually impaired, cultural activities, beekeeping education, and senior advisory services.

Award recipients included Marie Gazdíková, Dana and Roman Hudeczkovi, Leopold Matela, Jitka Musilová, Zdeňka Špičková, and Ludmila Opravilová. The ceremony featured soloists from the National Theatre Moravian-Silesian musical ensemble.

In a related regional effort, the city of Ostrava has opened nominations for its Senior of the Year 2026 and Senior Club of the Year 2026. The search aims to identify residents aged 65 and older who improve local life through charity, sports, art, or environmental protection. Nominations are being accepted through October 31.
