Moravian-Silesian Region allocates 15 million CZK for film productions

The Moravian-Silesian Region has allocated over 15 million CZK in film vouchers to support ten different audiovisual productions. These funds, sourced from the Just Transition Operational Programme, will assist in the creation of feature films, animated productions, and a natural history documentary.

According to Peter Harvánek, the regional councillor for culture and heritage care, audiovisual creation is vital for the region's image and helps bolster the local economy and tourism. Since the launch of this subsidy program, the region has supported a total of 10 films with 20.1 million CZK in funding. The latest round of approvals includes six feature films, one short film, two animations, and one documentary.

Specific projects mentioned include the film ‘6 gramů’, which explores drug suspicions in a school setting; ‘Svoboda’, a film about returning to freedom after imprisonment; and the romantic comedy ‘Dřevorubec’, which was filmed in the Beskydy mountains. Additionally, the natural history documentary ‘Farský rybník’ and a non-verbal animated series for preschoolers will receive support.
