Moravian-Silesian Region fathers assist in three unexpected births

Three unexpected births occurred within a single week in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. In each instance, the mothers were unable to reach a hospital in time, resulting in the fathers assisting with the deliveries.

One birth took place in a private vehicle on the D48 highway, another occurred in an apartment in Ostrava, and a third took place in Havířov. In all three cases, the fathers acted as makeshift midwives. The mothers and infants were subsequently examined by paramedics and transported to the hospital in good health.

Emergency dispatch operators played a critical role in these incidents by providing calm, step-by-step instructions over the phone. Regional emergency services noted that such calls are among the most challenging situations an operator can face, requiring both physical guidance and psychological support for the parents.
