Moravský Beroun sues to annul wind energy acceleration zone

The municipality of Moravský Beroun has decided to file a lawsuit with the Supreme Administrative Court to annul part of the territorial development plan regarding the Norberčany acceleration zone (AOV18). The town's leadership argues that the state ignored comments from residents and local municipalities when defining the zone.

Mayor Jan Hicz stated that while the town is not opposed to renewable energy development, it opposes the specific method used to delineate the zone. Concerns include the potential devastation of the landscape and nature in the Nízký Jeseník region, impacts on the quality of life, and risks to public health. The lawsuit also alleges an infringement on the right to self-governance and a failure to assess the cumulative impacts of wind turbine construction.

Moravský Beroun is coordinating its legal actions with neighboring municipalities, including Norberčany, Dvorce, Budišov nad Budišovkou, and Křišťanovic, which may join the proceedings as participating parties.
