Morbegno to host 119th Mostra del Bitto festival

The 119th edition of the Mostra del Bitto is scheduled to take place in Morbegno on October 17 and 18, 2026. The event celebrates the production and tradition of Bitto DOP, one of the world's oldest cheeses, alongside other regional products like Valtellina Casera and Scimudin.

Centered in Piazza Sant'Antonio, the festival will feature demonstrations of cheese production, producer stands, and a competition organized by the Consorzio Tutela Formaggi Valtellina Casera e Bitto DOP. The program includes tastings of Bitto, idromele, and various cheeses paired with Sforzato wine or gin and tonic.

Additional activities include the 'El BITstrot' dedicated to pizzoccheri di Teglio, a 'Palo della Cuccagna' challenge involving cheese wheels, and the 'Giro Bitto in Cantina' through historic cellars. The event also offers family-oriented programming, alpine beer festivals, and local craftsmanship markets.
