Morbihan authorities authorize three protests against cost of living

The Prefect of Morbihan has authorized three demonstrations scheduled for Saturday, October 31, 2026, to protest the rising cost of living. The authorized gatherings will take place in Vannes, Lanester, and on the island of Groix.

In Lanester, the rally is set to begin at 1:30 PM at the Saint-Christophe roundabout. In Vannes, the demonstration will start at 2:30 PM at the port esplanade. Officials noted that the planned route in Vannes is designed to avoid the main commercial center and several public buildings.

Authorities expect a significant turnout, noting that previous unauthorized mobilizations saw approximately 3,000 participants, while earlier authorized rallies drew up to 10,000 people. The CGT union has declared the Vannes and Lanester marches and has worked with officials to coordinate the new routes.
