Automotive industry faces recalls and traffic enforcement issues

Automotive manufacturers are facing significant challenges regarding vehicle technology and driver conduct. Ford has led recent recall efforts in 2026, with nearly 12 million vehicles affected in the United States, including two million due to rearview camera malfunctions. This follows increased European regulations requiring cameras or sensors on all new vehicles.

In France, law enforcement has reported various traffic incidents. In the Doubs region, a British family was intercepted by gendarmes on the A36 motorway after attempting to bypass tolls by manually lifting the barriers at the Saint-Maurice-Colombier toll station.

Additionally, in Vendée, a driver was apprehended in Challans for traveling at 184 km/h in a 110 km/h zone. Authorities seized the vehicle and initiated legal proceedings. Discussions regarding radar accuracy also persist, specifically concerning the ability of older Doppler-effect technology to distinguish between two vehicles traveling at different speeds within the same measurement beam.
