Morbihan railway line undergoes €54.5 million renovation

A major renovation project for the Auray-Quiberon railway line, known as the ‘Tire-Bouchon’, has commenced in Morbihan. The €54.5 million initiative aims to completely regenerate aging railway components, including the renewal of rails, sleepers, and ballast.

The works, which began in September 2026 following the summer season, are scheduled for completion before the 2027 summer reopening. In addition to track improvements, the project includes upgrades to level crossings, stops, and stations. Notably, the Quiberon station will be relocated to the north and redesigned to improve accessibility for persons with reduced mobility (PMR).

Funding for the project is provided through the 2023-2027 State-Region Plan, with contributions from the State (26.5%), the Brittany Region (40%), the Morbihan Department (5.5%), and Auray Quiberon Terre Atlantique.
