Morebús to introduce Yutong hybrid buses in Morelia
The Morebús public transport system in Morelia, Michoacán, is set to modernize its fleet with the acquisition of 74 Yutong H12 hybrid units. These vehicles, which have a capacity of 87 passengers each, are part of a strategy by the Government of Michoacán to improve urban mobility and provide a more efficient, environmentally friendly service.
María Elena Huerta Moctezuma, Secretary of Urban Development and Mobility, stated that the new technology aims to reduce fuel consumption and pollutant emissions compared to conventional units. The project is designed to meet the transit demands of users traveling from the west of Morelia to various parts of the city.
In addition to the new fleet, the Morebús initiative includes complementary infrastructure improvements to enhance safety. These measures include secure pedestrian crossings, intelligent traffic lights, surveillance cameras, and the creation of green areas to benefit both transit users and pedestrians.
