Moree fatal crash kills man on Newell Highway

A man, believed to be in his 80s, died following a two-vehicle collision on the Newell Highway near Success Park Road, Moree, on Sunday, 27 September 2026. The crash involved a car and a truck.

Emergency services arrived shortly before 2:00 p.m. to find the car driver deceased at the scene. A 74-year-old female passenger in the car sustained minor injuries and was transported to Moree Hospital. The truck driver was uninjured but was taken to the hospital for mandatory testing. During the incident, the truck caught fire, which was subsequently extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW.

The crash resulted in the closure of the highway north of Croppa Moree Road for an extended period to allow the Crash Investigation Unit to gather evidence. Police have established a crime scene and will prepare a report for the coroner. Authorities are requesting anyone with dashcam footage or information to contact Crime Stoppers.
