Regional infrastructure projects target flood prevention and water management

Various municipalities across Argentina, Honduras, and Mexico are implementing infrastructure projects to mitigate flooding and manage water resources, often in response to climate change risks and the El Niño phenomenon.

In Argentina, the Province of Buenos Aires is conducting sanitation work on the San Bernardo stream in Tornquist to prevent overflows. Other regional efforts include drainage improvements in La Plata, bridge construction in Alto Comedero, and water management works in Bariloche and El Trébol. Additionally, Concepción del Uruguay is reinforcing river defenses to prevent leaks during high water levels.

In Honduras, the Municipality of Puerto Cortés has authorized investments exceeding 5.4 million lempiras for drainage projects in the Buenos Aires and Colonia Municipal areas to protect residents from heavy rains. In Mexico, infrastructure modernization is underway in Morelia to optimize rainwater runoff alongside new transit projects.
