Morelia infrastructure projects reach key milestones
Major infrastructure projects in Morelia, Michoacán, are reaching significant milestones. The city's new cable car system has reached 85 percent completion and has entered a technical testing phase. The first segment, which will connect Estadio Morelos with the Monumento a Lázaro Cárdenas, has had its electromechanical systems installed across four stations. Testing currently includes cabin runs, electrical connections, and component verification, with load and braking tests to follow before European specialists conduct a final certification review.
Simultaneously, the construction of the second peripheral ring road is progressing. This 51.5-kilometer project aims to connect the metropolitan area, linking the exits to Pátzcuaro and Quiroga, as well as the stretch from Mil Cumbres to the Álvaro Obregón exit. The project, which involves an investment exceeding 3,198 million pesos, is being built without public debt. A recently inaugurated fifth segment in the municipality of Charo allows for travel across 12.2 kilometers in approximately seven minutes.
