Morelia Planetarium Modernization Reaches 70% Completion

Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla announced that the modernization of the Planetario de Morelia is 70 percent complete. The upgraded dome will feature six 8K projectors delivering more than 29 million effective pixels, creating an unprecedented visual experience.

The facility will include an auditorium, interactive rooms, and an exhibition space showcasing the venue’s history, including a Mark IV Carl Zeiss projector that served the planetarium for five decades. A dedicated hall will honor Michoacán astronaut José Hernández, displaying three of his space suits. Secretary of Urban Development and Mobility María Elena Huerta Moctezuma added that a state‑of‑the‑art telescope will project live images onto the dome and auditorium, supporting scientific education for children and adolescents in the region.
