Morelia police and Guardia Civil detain two suspects in Oxxo robbery
In a coordinated operation, the Police of Morelia and the Guardia Civil of Michoacán arrested two men suspected of violent robberies at Oxxo convenience stores in the city. The suspects, identified as Germán Javier, 38, a Colombian, and Marco, 26, from Sinaloa, were stopped after fleeing the latest incident in a Ford Explorer heading toward Plaza Carrillo. Video surveillance from the C5 camera helped officers locate the vehicle in the Jardines de Vista Bella neighborhood, where they forced it to stop and detained the occupants.
Searches of the suspects and the vehicle uncovered an apparently homemade firearm without ammunition, a bag containing more than 10,000 pesos in cash, and three cell phones. The men have been placed in the custody of the Michoacán state prosecutor pending further investigation into this robbery and at least three other violent Oxxo thefts reported in the area.
