Morelia police seize vehicles after armed men threaten officers

Police in northern Morelia, Michoacán, seized two vehicles during an operation on Saturday, September 12, 2026. The intervention began when officers located a grey Ford Fiesta linked to an ongoing investigation by the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) involving homicide and attempted homicide.

During the procedure near the Los Ángeles neighborhood, armed individuals arrived in a white Nissan Máxima and a white Nissan X-Trail. Reports indicate that suspects threatened officers, with one individual allegedly retrieving a long firearm from a vehicle's trunk. The suspects fled the scene in the Nissan X-Trail before a confrontation could occur.

Authorities deployed a security operation in the sector to locate the suspects. No gunfire or direct clashes were reported during the incident, and the seized vehicles have been placed at the disposal of the competent authorities for further investigation.
