Morelia Teleférico Begins Cable Installation

The construction of the Teleférico de Morelia has entered a critical phase with the start of the carrier‑tractor cable installation. The cable, a galvanized steel strand over 50 mm in diameter, was supplied by Swiss manufacturer Fatzer and will enable the movement of the gondola cabins.

Sedum head María Elena Huerta said the work follows the project schedule and that once the cable is laid and spliced, the system will move to electromechanical testing. The first loop now has all 20 towers and a communications system in place, while the second loop continues with four remaining towers between the Obelisco and Santa María stations.
