Michoacán Legislature implements electoral and health reforms

The 76th Legislature of Michoacán has concluded its second legislative year with several key initiatives. In electoral matters, new reforms aim to strengthen transparency by eradicating nepotism, prohibiting immediate reelection for various local offices, and regulating influencers during electoral bans. Additionally, new measures allow for the annulment of polling stations where criminal interference or violence is detected.

In the health sector, the legislature approved over 25 initiatives focused on disease prevention and mental health. These include improved coordination for diabetes care, protocols for prostate and testicular cancer, and specific mental health support for children and adolescents, as well as programs for caregivers.

Other regional developments include urban rehabilitation projects in Morelia's Los Ángeles neighborhood led by Deputy Giulianna Bugarini, and reports from Lake Cuitzeo indicating it has reached 65% capacity. Meanwhile, the State Prosecutor's Office arrested a public ministry agent in Zamora on suspicion of bribery.
