Morelia’s Jalo Futbolero draws 171,000 fans, spurs 84 million‑peso economic boost

From June 11 to July 19, the Jalo Futbolero football viewing event and the Festival Michoacán of Origin were held at the Centro de Convenciones y Exposiciones in Morelia, attracting more than 171,000 visitors over 39 days. The program included 64 free broadcasts of Mexico’s national‑team matches on giant screens, five large concerts at the Palacio del Arte that saw about 90,000 attendees, and a food zone with 36 traditional cooks whose sales topped 4 million pesos. Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla reported that the activities generated an economic spillover exceeding 84 million pesos for the city, boosting local commerce and tourism. The Secretaría de Seguridad Pública confirmed the event concluded without any criminal incidents, with security provided by the state civil guard and coordinated through the C5 Michoacán command center.
