Morelia launches major road project, expands women’s services and school road‑safety program

Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla inaugurated the Monarca road distributor at the city’s Pátzcuaro exit, a 380‑million‑peso investment that improves traffic flow for more than 250,000 residents and around 80,000 daily vehicles. The project includes two new bridges and was built without incurring public debt, according to state officials.

The municipal Secretariat of Women (Semmujeris) reported delivering 1,650 specialized assistance cases between January and May, comprising 928 psychological, 432 legal and 290 social‑work interventions aimed at protecting women and preventing gender‑based violence.

Through the Secretariat of Urban Development and Mobility, the “Guardianes de la Movilidad” program reached 665 primary‑school students at Gregorio Torres school, teaching traffic rules, pedestrian safety and inclusive mobility. Participants, including students with disabilities, completed a hands‑on rally and were designated “Guardians of Mobility” to share the lessons with families.

All initiatives are part of Mayor Alfonso Martínez Alcázar’s broader strategy to modernize infrastructure, enhance public safety and promote gender equity in Morelia.
